If the Inuits have 50 words for snow, the Turks quite probably have the same number for “all-inclusive”, a concept that increasingly encompasses everything from family playgrounds to luxurious couples’ retreats, with world-class spas and Michelin-star restaurants. All along the glittering coastline, from the Cesme peninsula in the west to Alanya in the southeast, all-inclusive resorts are popping up, each one striving to offer more — wilder waterparks, more immersive excursions and the very best suites with butlers ready to cater to every whim.

What really sets Turkey apart is that every resort reveals the country’s spectacular scenery. Whether at the pristine, sandy beaches of Oludeniz and Calis, the dramatic Lycian mountains that overlook Marmaris and Fethiye, or the olive groves and gentle hills of the Bodrum peninsula, the country’s natural beauty is what really sets it apart. And, with every expense covered, there’s nothing to do but sit back and soak it all up — so whether you’re taking the family to Fethiye or looking for a romantic bolt hole in Belek, these are the best all-inclusives in Turkey.

1. Regnum the Crown, Belek

£££ | SPA | POOL | Best for rooftop views

Glamour comes as standard at this super-luxe resort near Antalya, where all 343 suites and 15 villas come with butler service, Bulgari toiletries and dressing rooms. A great choice for gourmands, there are 19 places to eat and drink (including one buffet and 11 à la carte restaurants), with more to try at the adjacent Regnum Carya, which guests are free to visit. The cherry on the cake, quite literally, is the adults-only “rooftop experience”, which combines an infinity pool and fitness club with a restaurant and bar — all offering spectacular views across Antalya’s glittering coastline.

2. Rixos Premium, Gocek

££ | SPA | POOL | Best for days on the water

Gocek is a charming, small resort with a strong focus on sailing; the Rixos unfolds at its western end, with spacious rooms in blocks surrounded by lushly planted gardens. A regular boat shuttle runs every 15 minutes to the hotel’s “secret beach” while traditional gulets (wooden sailing boats) head out each morning to explore the beautiful coastline, studded with islands. Back at base, the Anjana Spa is the perfect place to unwind after a day’s exploring, with six restaurants and three bars in which to while away the evening.

3. Bayou Villas, Antalya

£££ | SPA | POOL | Best for privacy-seekers

Love the fuss-free nature of all-inclusive but hate being hemmed in by other people? This might just be the answer. At Bayou Villas, part of the Lara Barut Collection resort, every group gets their own bijou property that floats on stilts over an individual swim-up pool and garden. The larger ones also have their own hot tubs, steam rooms and saunas, so you never have to share with strangers. With just 24 villas in total, peace and quiet is never hard to find. The little touches that you’d expect for this price tag are all there — from welcome champagne to homemade Turkish delight.

4. Biblos, Alacati

£££ | SPA | POOL | Best for water sports fans

The Aegean resort of Alacati — close to Izmir — is a firm favourite with the glamorous young Turkish crowd, thanks to its pretty, bougainvillea-draped town centre, excellent beaches and clubs, and its windsurfing, which is the best in Turkey. Most accommodation here is bed-and-breakfast style, but Biblos provides genuine international luxury. Perks include your own private lounger on the pristine beach, quirky spa offerings including ice and experimental rain therapy rooms, and treatments delivered in a garden cabana. Staff can guide you to the best places for windsurfing, or put you in touch with schools if you are a beginner.

5. Caresse, Bodrum

££ | SPA | POOL | Best for a sense of luxury

Bodrum’s Bitez district is Turkey’s premier luxury beach spot, where you can find the most fashionable celebrities holidaying (Kate Moss is a regular visitor). Some of the hotels are so top-end that they come with private yacht marinas and security guards, but if you’d like to sample the exclusive lifestyle on a (slightly) more modest budget, Caresse ticks the boxes. It’s small and boasts a mix of rooms and villas, scattered with original art pieces and fitted out exquisitely. Buddha-Bar Beach serves up top-notch sushi and cocktails with sea views. If you do happen to have a private yacht, the hotel has its own berths — and if not, it also has rental options.

6. Liberty Lykia, Oludeniz

££ | SPA | POOL | Best for natural surroundings

Situated at the start of the 330-mile Lycian Way, the best-known hiking trail in Turkey, this hotel makes the perfect base for getting back to nature in one of the most stirring parts of the Turkish coast. There’s plenty to do on site too, with a host of free activities including yoga, Pilates, archery and canoeing included in the package. The vibe is far more laid-back than most all-inclusives, with its rooms and villas spread out over a huge, lush site, and a kids’ club means adults can enjoy a little peace and quiet when they choose.

7. Hillside Beach Club, Fethiye

££ | SPA | POOL | Best for sporty families

If nature and adrenaline rather than luxury are your priority, then the Hillside is one of the best all-inclusives you will find. Its location on the Lycian Way makes it a perfect base for hiking, and there are extensive sports facilities including tennis courts and yoga classes. The rooms are basic but comfortable and bright, and with so much to try outside, you won’t want to spend much time in them anyway. The staff can arrange excursions to local historical and cultural sites, or to the islands scattered around the bay.

8. Agaya Bodrum, Bodrum

££ | SPA | POOL | Best for getting out and about

Close to the centre of Bodrum with its glamorous marina, historic attractions and buzzing nightlife, this hotel is perfect for holidaymakers who want to do more than just sit by the pool; the resort has its own water taxi that will whisk you straight from the private jetty to the town. The hotel itself is focused squarely on sophisticated luxury, with tastefully decorated rooms, three restaurants with a (fairly relaxed) dress code, and a freshwater pool alongside its stretch of private beach. Its adults-only policy means you’re guaranteed a relaxing break.

9. Limak Lara Deluxe Hotel & Resort, Antalya

££ | SPA | POOL | Best for a stress-free family holiday

Lara Beach is one of the liveliest and most popular parts of Antalya, situated just a short drive from the airport. This sprawling resort has five restaurants serving Turkish and international cuisine, two bars, water-sports facilities (at an extra cost), live dance shows and kids’ clubs, as well as a huge stretch of private beach, so there’s little chance that anyone in the family will get bored. For the grown-ups, there’s a fully equipped fitness centre and a range of massages available at the spa.

10. Atlantique Holiday Club, Kusadasi

£ | SPA | POOL | Best for occupying the children

Younger family members will be enthralled by the huge on-site Tortuga Water Park, featuring pools and slides suitable for all ages, as well as a kids’ club and restaurant. There are two more pools and a private beach inside the hotel, where you’ll find a more grown-up, laid-back vibe. Older children can also try scuba diving, paragliding or jet-skiing, all of which can be booked from the hotel. The busy seaside resort of Kusadasi, with its ancient walls, marina and bazaar, is just a short drive away.

11. Club Tuana, Fethiye

£ | SPA | POOL | Best for bird lovers

This hotel is set over a huge site that includes gardens lush with mature orange and frankincense trees, and a large aviary where you can admire many different breeds of tropical birds. The concept is more holiday village than hotel, so you’ll feel like you are getting back to nature. But there are also kids’ clubs and nightly shows, plus extra activities such as paragliding and water sports to keep you and your family entertained.

12. Maxx Royal Belek Golf Resort, Antalya

£££ | SPA | POOL | Best for golfers

You’ll find everything you’d expect of a luxury all-inclusive resort at this huge complex — plenty of restaurants serving diverse cuisines, seven swimming pools and an aqua park, a luxurious spa and a wealth of daytime and evening live shows. But its USP is its championship golf course with clubhouse, which guests can use free with a prior reservation. If you don’t plan on doing any travelling outside the resort, this is the place for you — there are enough facilities to keep you entertained, and your every whim will be catered for.

13. Melas Resort Hotel, Side

££ | SPA | POOL | Best for shoulder-season breaks

If you fancy a holiday in early spring or late autumn, when the sun is still bright but there is a slight chill in the air, the Melas’s heated indoor freshwater pool makes it the perfect choice. It is situated in Side, close to some of Turkey’s most impressive ancient sites, which are far more comfortable to explore in the less crowded and more temperate off-season. If you do come in the height of summer there’s still plenty to do, with indoor and outdoor pools and direct access to the beach.

14. Club & Hotel Letoonia, Calis, Fethiye

Club & Hotel Letoonia, Calis, Fethiye, one of the best all-inclusive hotels in Turkey

£ | SPA | POOL | Best for beach lovers

On a headland that juts out into the sparkling turquoise waters of the Med, this is the place to come if your idea of a perfect holiday is lying on pristine white sand with nothing but the sounds of nature to distract you. The accommodation is in traditional-style villas that are draped in dazzling bougainvillea and set in lush gardens that will make you feel as though you are staying in a village, not a resort. But you’ll also find all the conveniences you would expect, including five restaurants and a kids’ club.

15. Robinson Camyuva, Antalya

££ | SPA | POOL | Best for solo travellers

If you want a holiday packed with activities and plenty of chances to meet new people, this is it. In the daytime, you’ll find rafting, canyoneering and zip-line sessions, and at night you can mingle with other guests at the White Night beach party — make sure you dress in white from head to toe. Further afield, the staff can arrange excursions for an extra fee, including yachting, off-roading and hiking. There are also yoga and Pilates sessions in the grounds, and single rooms available — a rarity in all-inclusives.
